Good morning ,

I hope everybody had a safe and enjoyable weekend .

With that being said , It is Tuesday , and time to return to work and normal duties . Be safe this week folks .

Were working out details for the golf event in July , for Hunters Helping Soldiers ( www.huntershelpingsoldiers.org ) at Orchard Hills Golf Course in Granite Falls , North Carolina .

I have some work to do on the property this week , as well as a few errands to run .

Waiting to hear word from the state of Colorado . The draw for fall antelope tags is the 2nd of June . If I am successful in the draw , Ill be heading west the first week of October for my hunt .

but yet most importantly ‘Happy Memorial Day’ . Lets not forget the reason behind the holiday . Shake the hand of a veteran today and thank them for there service .

I spent yesterday helping a friend relocate . His home was damaged in the path of a tornado recently . Terrible the sight of devastation created in its path . Luckily , nobody was hurt .

Enjoy the day folks , but again , please take a moment to remember the cost of our freedom paid by others for us to enjoy .

As everyone begins the weekend , be safe in your travels or outings . Let us not forget the purpose of Memorial Day . ‘Thank’ a vet , remember a lost friend or family member , thank the family of a military man or women who may be currently deployed . Remember the sacrifices that have been and continue to be made in our behalf and why .

What started as a nice day here has turned cloudy and windy . Rain is on its way in as Joplin continues to endure the weather . The death toll has risen to 130+ in the wake of last Sunday’s tornado . Remember those who have been at ground zero from the start in search of those still missing , as well as those who have been lost in the tragedy .

Good morning all ,

The midwest and surrounding states took another beating from mother nature yesterday and this morning early . As an outbreak of tornadoes spanned from Texas , Oklahoma , Arkansas , and into the Carolinas . The death toll continues to rise as rescue efforts has begun .

The tornado that struck close to home here in Joplin has been upgraded to an F5 , with the death toll at over 120+ . Relief efforts are under way and continue as the number of missing is still phenomenal .

The arrangements have been made for an event in North Carolina . Hunters Helping Soldiers working with the Missouri Safari Chapter has scheduled a golf outing/auction for July 30th in Granite Falls , North Carolina at Orchard Hills Golf Course . A beautiful start to the day today . The weather man is calling for more intense storms through the heartland this afternoon and over night . Were all hoping for the best .

The death toll after Sundays tornado in Joplin , Missouri stands at 116 this morning . Rescuers working on scene pulled at least another dozen survivors from the rubble over night .

My wife has been summoned to stand by status for the Missouri National Guard . They face possible deployment to the disaster stricken areas here in Missouri .

‘Thank you’ is in order for all the offers of support to help a personal friend and his family . He is an Army vet who did 2 tours in Iraq . Him and his family lost there home and belongings in the storm Sunday . If you are interested in helping , please contact me for details . The Missouri Safari Chapter of Hunters Helping Soldiers has started a relief fund for David and his family .

Day of mourning in the Ozarks ,

After a severe storm system passed through the Midwest yesterday , leaving death and destruction along its path . One of the the more severe tornadoes that stemmed from the storm , touched down on Main street in Joplin , Missouri . The path was estimated at close to 3/4 ‘s of a mile wide and up to 6 miles long . Total devastation was left in its path . Among the destruction was a hospital that suffered severe damage and all victims needing to be evacuated . The storm drifted south south east and passed south of us by about 15-20 miles . My neighbors fathers home was damaged by Crane , Missouri , loosing his garage and all the out buildings .

The pic is from within 2 blocks of a friends house in Joplin , Missouri . As today more storms roll in and they continue to search for survivors and salvage what they can . 89 confirmed dead so far .

And so the rain returns ,

The weekend has arrived and is upon us all . However , with it this week it brought the rain . With the recent floods throughout the south and midwest , the rain is not welcome in many areas . Lake levels in our area are still above normal and the chance for added flooding is a possibility before we see nice weather again . The weather forecast is calling for a chance of rain and severe storms through the beginning of next week .

Hoping for the best in regards to the weather for everyone .

Ill be out at the property in the next couple days to check food plots again and hang some trail cameras . I also need to do some more work on stand placement and shooting lanes . Preparing for a good opening week of archery hunting in September , as well as making plans for rifle season in November. I will be hunting with my son this fall during youth rifle weekend in hopes of his first deer . As well , I have family coming in from both , North Carolina and Illinois to hunt the rifle season here . Should be a lot of fun and good times .

I've been busy the last couple of days . Working on travel plans and hunt details . Looks to be a busy summer and fall season to date . No details yet as to my Colorado antelope hunt . The drawing for tag’s isn't until the 2nd of June . I should know shortly after if I was successful or not .

I have been working on plans for the next meeting of the Missouri Safari chapter of Hunters Helping Soldiers . We are also working on details for a benefit auction , and a summer golf outing . Ill post details as they are available .

I hope all is well for everyone . We almost have this week behind us .

Another week is upon us and has started on the right foot ,

Me and the kids had an educational experience this morning before they boarded the bus for school . We were able to watch the final launch of Space Shuttle Endeavor before she is retired . Of course there was a lot of hype as the NASA space program winds down . If you missed this mornings launch , there will be one more final mission in July .

With the weather turning nicer , yard work has begun . It’s a hard decision between yard work and food plots .

Had a good day here in the Ozarks . The weather held out for me to pressure wash the fence . Now in a couple days I can stain it .

Spent some time lookin at older Jeep CJ’s on the internet . Im thinkin that would be a good vehicle for the Missouri Safari Team to use on hunting trips and adventures . Ill keep you posted .

Still working on details for summer / fall hunting trips . Should have some details ready to post soon .

Good evening folks , been a beautiful day in the Ozarks again today . Spent the day with the family , bbq this evening and watching the kids play in the yard .

Had a busy morning working on details for sponsorship deals with Missouri Safari . As well , working on plans for summer hog hunts and making plans for fall season .

Ive got some travelling to do this summer as well as this fall . Going to be a lot of cross country trips . I promise to post pictures and details of the ventures .

A lot of good things happening quick . Be sure to keep an eye out for details .

What gorgeous weather we are having in the Ozarks …

With the cool temps and storms gone , the yard work has begun . Not only is it time to fresh’n up the yard , but time to work on the property . Spring turkey season has come and gone , now is the time to start concentrating on fall archery deer . It will be here before we know it .

I planted several small food plots a couple weeks ago and reseeded around a week ago . As me and my son were hunting yesterday morning , I took the time to check on my plots . Everything appears to be doing good . Along with the regular under growth and younger tree’s . I plan to spend some time this week checking my stands and walking the trails . I will start now looking for ambush points to have multiple locations available to hang my climber . Depending on wind/weather , I try to keep several good spot trimmed back and ready . Pay attention to branches or thick brush you may need to work on now . That way come opening weekend , your not discouraged by a blocked shot or obstructed view .

Don’t forget , its never too early to start practicing either . Even if its just 30 minutes in the evenings after work a few days a week .

'Happy Mothers Day' to all the mom's out there , and the soon to be mothers .

The infamous thunder chicken has alluded me and my boy this spring season here in Missouri . We returned to the woods early this morning in hopes of him getting his first bird . The pressure had mounted all season as we approached the end of the season . He wanted to be mobile , so on foot we were , all across and around the property . With not a turkey in sight , nor a gobble in the distance .
After wearing himself out from walking , he decided we could return to the blind and pack up .
He doesn't seem upset by not getting a bird , as he is already making plans for a hog hunt later this year . At least he's persistent ...

No luck for me and my boy this morning in the woods . As we were making the trip to our property , a storm blew in . We fought wind / rain / lightning and reportedly hail in the area . We tried to stick it out as long as we could before calling it for the day . Hopefully tomorrow morning will prove better for him .

Good morning folks , another early start to the day . Extremely damp and foggy out this morning as the rain has moved out of the area .

I am busy working on sponsorship letters for the Team with Missouri Safari . I have some new and exciting news to be released within the next couple days .

Our turkey season ends Sunday and my son is wanting to get into the woods with me over the weekend . I am sure we will have a blast .

Remember to take the time to spend with children and loved ones in the woods . It is always a memorable experience . Introduce a friend or someone new to the outdoors . Let them have a first hand experience with mother nature . A lot of people are interested , but afraid of not having the knowledge .

Good morning folks , another early start for me today . With spring season ending Sunday , Im trying to get in all the hunting I can . The weather has improved considering all the rain and storms weve been having over the course of the last few weeks .

Good afternoon everyone ,

I hope you all had an enjoyable and safe weekend . Our festivities and visiting went well . All the family and friends have returned home now safely to begin there week .

The weather here in Missouri has turned for the better . I was actually able to get into the woods for a bit this morning . Did a little scouting in preparation for some hunting later this week . Our season is quickly coming to an end . I am happy I was successful while hunting in Oklahoma earlier this month , however I would like to bag a bird here on our property this year .

The food plots looked good and hopefully with the warmer temps and sun I will start to see a lot of new growth .

Hunt hard , hunt safe , hunt often ….
