Were almost there folks , the weekend is fast approaching as is the holiday .

I am on the road again travelling for a day or two . I will be in Nashville this afternoon for a couple hours at Bass Pro . Not sure if I will be spending the evening in town or just returning home . If you happen to be in the area , stop in and say ‘Hello’ .

Be safe in your ventures this week folks , we've got a lot to celebrate this weekend .

Ill be out checking my cam’s and feeders over the weekend . As well as my food plots . We have had a little rain around the area but no where near the amount we need . Not to mention our heat index is supposed to be over 100 degrees for the next several days . I'm sure it will take a toll on my plots .

Good evening all ,

I hope everybody had a nice weekend and a good start to the week . I have been busy with the return of my wife from her summer At on Saturday , as well as the family day at the Armory that evening .

 

The Unit is finishing up last minute details and they should all be home by tomorrow evening .

I made a fast trip to Kansas City today to talk with some folks about a job offer . Worked out well for me , just not sure it is the best for my schedule and the direction I am trying to go at this point and time .

Make the best of your work week and lets all get ready for the 4th celebration .

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far . I got word yesterday that the second round of hats should be on there way to me this coming week . I also have some shirts in the works and am awaiting word on them .

Took a look around yesterday while I was on the property . A lot of deer sign . I picked out a couple new locations to archery hunt with my climber . As well as noticed I have some more lane trimming to do for shooting .

I should have pic’s available off the trail cam in the next week or so . Be nice to see the growth as the year progresses .

The 935th returns to there home Armory in Aurora today . They have been gone on there summer AT mission for the last 2 weeks . Although arriving in Aurora today , they still have 3 days of duty before being released on Tuesday .

Hey everybody , I hope everyone is having a good week to date .

Sorry I haven't made a post in a couple few days . I was out of town on my hog hunt with Dakel Hog Hunts . We had an enjoyable time with the exception of the weather and the lack of hogs . On the first day we ended up having severe thunderstorms followed by high heat and humidity the following day . We didn’t see a lot of sign and certainly none fresh . They did have a couple feeders filled , and even the feeders weren't getting hit . We tried some spot / stalk as well as hunting the blinds and over the feeders . We even tried night hunting with lights . No success no matter what we tried .

I plan on returning for another hunt later in the year . After the weather turns cooler and some of the foliage and forage is gone . Until then , I am working on plans to hog hunt in Oklahoma for a couple days . As well as finishing details for fall big game season .

Ill keep all posted as time progresses . Have a good rest of the week .

I had a nice trip over to North Carolina yesterday , arriving early this morning .

It should prove to be a joyous visit as always with friends / family .

The kids are sure to have a good time on the lake as well , spending time with grandma / grandpa .

Ill be heading over for my hunt Tuesday through Thursday , Im looking forward to that as well . Ill post pictures , updates and a review after the hunt is over .

sorry for the delay in posts . It has been busy for me with making last minute travel plans and hunting arrangements the last few days . With my wife being gone for her Annual Training with the National Guard , I've got the added responsibilities at hand .

     Ill be making a short trip over to North Carolina soon to visit with family and friends . Shortly after that , I am heading to the boothill area of Missouri on a hog hunt . Don’t forget to check out the website at www.dakelhoghunts.net . I have never been to this outfitters facility before . Look for updates and pictures by the end of next week . Its all fair chase on private property .

Sorry for no post yesterday . Been kinda busy here at the house . With the ball game Friday night , and my wife leaving for summer AT yesterday , a lot of running around going on .

We had a good time at the Cardinals game Friday evening . The company of friends and family was great . My son had an excellent time celebrating his b-day .

The weather here has cooled some . Bringing a bit of rain with it . Im looking forward to the rain as my food plots need it . Plans are all coming together for summer and fall hunts . My first hunt takes place the 21st / 22nd of this month . It’ll be a fair chase hog hunt on private property here in Missouri . Im working with a new outfitter ( www.dakelhoghunts.net ) . I chose a short hunt just to have a chance to see the property first hand and be able to critique the hunting available . Ill keep everyone posted as to my experience . If you decide to contact them to book a hunt , be sure to tell them I sent yah .

I hope everyone has a safe weekend . I am taking a break from the routine today to relax with the family . We are celebrating my sons birthday today . Friends and family heading to Springfield this evening to catch the Cardinals game and watch fireworks afterward . Should prove to be a good time .

Afternoon all ,

Had a good morning on the property today . Seen a young doe bedded down just off my lane . It was as if she was waiting for me , saying ‘Hey , feeders are empty’ … lol

I did fill the feeders , as well as put out some fresh mineral and check on my food plots . The plots looked good , just a little dry . Luckily , the weather man is calling for showers over the weekend . That should really help boost the growth .

I seen a lot of fresh tracks , especially along the creek bed . As well as scat and surface markings where the deer have been pawing at my mineral site . The trails are all active , and the lane is being used .

I hope your week is going well . I have been busy scheduling summer and fall hunts for the Missouri Safari team . I failed to draw my antelope tags for Colorado state , so I have worked out a mule deer hunt in southeastern Washington to take its place .  Still working on a possible antelope hunt , only time will tell .

Be looking for more info/updates about the Hunters Helping Soldiers golf tournament and benefit auction in North Carolina later this summer . Details are being worked out and should be available soon . The event is scheduled for July the 30th in Granite Falls , North Carolina at the Orchard Hills Golf Course . There will be great food , prizes , entertainment and of course the golf tournament .

I hope your work week is going well . I have been tying up loose ends here around the house .

I got a new smoke pole yesterday . It’s a Traditions Pursuit LT Accelerator .50 cal . Very nice stainless barrel with fiber optic sights and a Thumbhole stock . The stock and fore grip are Mossy Oak Treestand camo . Very nice looking gun . Cant wait for muzzleloader season . Now I have to decide if I am going to stay with the sights or mount a scope on it .

I hope everybody has had a good weekend . I have been busy helping friends and spending time with family .

Hunt dates have been secured for June 21st/22nd . I will be hunting here in Missouri at Dakel Hog hunts ( www.dakelhoghunts.net ) . This is a fair chase hunt on private property . Be sure to check out there website . If you contact them for info or to schedule a hunt , be sure to tell them I sent yah .

Ill be shooting video while there and should have some good footage and pics when the hunt concludes .

Good morning , early start today .

We are all heading over to the National Guard Armory in Aurora . The Family Readiness Group is having there annual fundraiser / garage sale for the A 935th Company . Should be a lot of fun for the Kids with bouncy house and such . Also gives everybody a chance to meet and talk a bit before summer deployment .

After there , Ill be heading back over towards Monett to help finish moving a friend . His home was destroyed in a tornado a couple weeks ago . Slowly picking up the pieces and getting him taken care of .

Arrangements were confirmed today for my sons Birthday party . We’ll be celebrating it next Friday , June 10th at the Springfield Cardinals baseball game . Should prove to be a good time .

Had a good time at Bass Pro this morning . There was a good turnout for the autograph signing by Jamie McMurray . If you can make it out to the festivities this evening , go . It should be a good time . Live entertainment by John Anderson on stage , with rumors of Jody Messina making a stage appearance .

I want to take a moment to remember a good friend ‘Henry’ . He was found yesterday evening by a neighbor . His ailments finally got the best of him and he passed . He will be missed by the neighborhood as well as the family/friends alike . He was a true lake dog , always eager to take a ride on the boat and keep an eye on the kids alike . He could be found in the mornings making his rounds visiting the neighborhood making sure all was good on his watch . You will be missed Henry .

For anybody in the area or interested , Bass Pro Shops in Springfield , Missouri , will be having a special event tomorrow June 2nd for the relief efforts to help Joplin , Missouri , in the wake of the devastating tornado that struck just a week and a half ago . Leaving a total of 130+ people dead in its path .

You can expect to see Nascar star Jamie McMurray as well as other special appearances . I will be at the store for a few hours working the floor and helping out however I can . I hope to see you there .
