Welcome to ‘No Shave November’ my Friends …

The cold snap has been moving across the country over the last week. Whitetail movement has been up and the Rut has kicked off across the country. I have seen a lot of pictures, heard a lot of stories, and been involved with many memories.

I had a successful gator hunt in South Florida a few weeks back. Now looking forward to the tree and doing some archery hunting.

I wish you all the best in your ventures, and encourage you to take a child into the Outdoors. It doesn’t have to be hunting, anything to get them outside to enjoy what nature has to offer.

I have been in South Florida get'n in a little gator action. Had a successful hunt last weekend scoring a 10' - 3" and a 8' gator in the same night. I want to 'Thank' Central Florida Trophy Hunts for another great experience. Be looking for a print article on the hunt to be coming soon.

Here is some info on the upcoming venture with FloridaRockStars and the Food & Country Fest. Happening September 6th in South Florida. Look for myself and other SC TV and OTC Outdoors Crew members in attendance.

I returned home yesterday from a quick trip up north. Starting to get geared up and continue my archery practice for Fall Season. Early Whitetail Season started this weekend in South Florida. Good Luck to all those in the swamps.

Sunday and Monday I have a couple meetings to handle and am going to try to squeeze in some Hog Hunting or Salt Water Fishing while in the area.

Full Moon should have been quite impressive, wasn’t visible here in North Carolina for cloud cover and rain.

Yes North Carolina , I have had a busy week on the road travelling. I will be returning to Illinois the first part of next week. The Florida trip went well in general. Worked out some new details for OTC Outdoors , Off The Chain.

Didn’t get any hunting in with schedule conflicts and weather playing a major part. Not concerned as I plan to return again next month shortly after the 4th. I will be in Tampa at the Southern Trophy Hunters Big Buck Expo.

Busy day ahead … I am working on finishing up a few details for some upcoming travels. Then it is off to the Windy City tonight to catch The Moonshine Bandits and The LACS in concert. They are playing at Joe’s Bar.

Change in Schedule …

First off , our thoughts go out to all those effected by the recent outbreak of storms across the country.

Due to the weather , my Kentucky hunt has been postponed. I will be travelling later in the week on my way to North Carolina to hunt with CutaWhiskie Creek Outfitters.

Welcome to the new week. I first want to express our thoughts for all those effected by the rash of Tornadoes and Bad Weather. It appears that the Mid West was hit the hardest.

Ok , busy week ahead. I am preparing to hit the road mid week to continue on with my Spring Turkey Hunting Season. Nebraska is the first stop on the list, for hunting and a couple business meetings. Then it is off to North Carolina for a few days of meetings and hunting as well.

It should prove to be a productive trip on both accounts. Be looking for some upcoming updates for some new cross adventures and updates.

     Been a busy couple few weeks. I returned home yesterday late from Texas. I was hunting with Rolla Outfitters over the weekend. Managed to put down 1 respectable hog. Had a missed shot on another pig and a miss on a coyote.

I have been in limbo a bit the last week with travelling and hunting. No luck in the woods in Southern Illinois for me. Fought foul weather for a couple days before a break the final day, still no bird on the ground.

Sorry for the delay in Post’s / Updates. I have been on the road Travelling / Hunting, with the lack of great service.

Robert and Myself returned home late last night. We had a successful hunt in Oklahoma with me putting down 2 Hogs (1 x Rifle / 1 x Bow). Texas turned out to be a rough hunt with Robert missing a Coyote and no shot opportunity on the Hogs we were seeing.

And the return of NASCAR … Daytona , Florida has been the Host of Speed Weeks since mid month.

With the running of ‘The Great American Race’ the Daytona 500 taking place yesterday.

After a Record Long rain delay (6 Hours and 22 Minutes) , NASCAR was finally able to get the race in.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. took the Checkered Flag for his Second Daytona 500 Victory.

I have had a slight change in plans for this weekend. Rather then travel to Oklahoma for the Hog Hunt, I will be attending the Indiana Whitetail, Turkey, Waterfowl Expo in Indianapolis tomorrow.

Departing early next week for the Arkansas Snow Goose hunt, followed by the Texas Hog / Predator hunt.

Depending on travel times , etc. , May try to squeeze in the Oklahoma hunt on my return trip. I will keep you all posted.

It is a sad day in the Outdoor Industry as the news spreads of the passing of CABELA’s Co-Founder Richard Cabela. He passed away yesterday at his home in Sidney , Nebraska. He was a definite Icon in the Outdoor Sporting Industry.

Another Bitter Cold Day in the MidWest. Temp’s are well below zero this morning and the wind-chill is unbearable. Be safe if you have to be out. Schools have been closed and activities cancelled the last couple days.

I am working on some final details as we prepare to head south this weekend. We will be hunting with some of the guys from Goose Down Game Calls as we take in a little Snow Goose hunting. Southern Illinois for a couple days then a possible trip further south to do some hog hunting in Texas. Ill post details as available.

We are glad to have the support and look forward to our Spring Turkey Season and putting there calls to work.

I have been working on some upcoming travel plans / hunt dates as we prepare to wrap up Whitetail Season and lead into Turkey.

Fresh snow on the ground in Illinois today …

Good morning all,

Today marks day 3 of the winter storm. We arrived home safely yesterday from our Missouri Hunting Trip. Roads still remain closed across parts of the Midwest today due to blowing snow and blizzard like winds. Travel safe if you have to get it and be sure to bundle up.

Today also marks day 2 of the ATA Show in Nashville. I am sorry I didn’t get to attend this year. Its always a good time to catch up with old friends and make a lot of new ones.

The SHOT Show is next week in Las Vegas. I have been invited to attend the Producers Banquet. I am going to try to make it, but no promises at this point. Short notice has its shortfall.

Music man Warren Silvers will be filming his music video the following weekend in Florida. I am also trying to figure plans to attend. That will be a good time for all.

Quick update on recent ventures …

Missouri Youth Whitetail weekend was a Bust. We seen a few deer early Saturday and jumped a couple later on in the day. Never had a shot for the boys. Winter weather rolled in last night convincing the boys to pass on hunting today.

We left Missouri early today for the trip home, only to be forced to settle in to a hotel in southern Illinois. High winds and blowing snow forced the closure of the Interstate. We are camping out in a hotel for the evening hoping for the best tomorrow.

I will not be attending the ATA this year as I chose the Youth Hunt instead. Who knows … Maybe I will make Vegas for the SHOT Show.
