Change of venue …

Do to unforeseen scheduling conflicts , there will be NO trip to Oklahoma this weekend . I will have to put off my travel plans for a week or two . Hopefully Ill be able to make it over before the end of archery season to try and take my antelope . If not , I for sure will make it over that way for a couple days worth of hog hunting .

All else is well here , and I am makin’ plans to be in the woods for next week .

Take care all and don’t forget to check out the website , www.spurchaser.com . A lot of great Spur Chaser brand products available in the web store and special giveaways and prizes available for Fan Club members only . I hope to see you there …

Afternoon ,

All is well here to date . I spent the morning on the property hanging a trail cam , checking mineral sites , and packing up my Gorilla blind .

I am sorting through my gear the next couple days as I prepare for a trip west .

I will be camping in northwestern New Mexico as I hunt in the Oklahoma panhandle for my archery antelope . Upon leaving there , I will be heading east and stopping for a day or two of hog hunting ( both archery and rifle - fair chase ). Then and only then will I be returning home . When I return home to Missouri I will be back in my favorite tree chasing whitetail , archery style .

Hope all is well with everyone as a lot of folks are planning for there season opener this weekend.

Be safe in the woods and ‘Good luck’ …

Good morning all ,

Well we managed to make it through the weekend as well as the beginning of a new week . We are quickly knocking on the door of a new month . October , brings a lot of excitement across the country . As the colors in the tree’s start to change , the last of the big game hunting seasons open across the country .

I have been busy the last week or so finishing my hunting / travel plans . I have become a big fan of Google , Mapquest , and my GPS … lol .

I have had to make a few changes here and there but for the most part I think I am in order .

Hopefully Ill get a chance to see some of you as I travel across the country .

Have a good week all  , and be safe …

‘Congrat’s’ to Tony Stewart and the crew at Stewart Haas Racing …

They pulled off another win today in Nascar for two in a row in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship . A good solid start for the Team .

All is well here in our household . I spent the morning on the property hunting with a friend . The deer were moving before daybreak and we never seen anything later in the morning . A lot of fresh sign though . Our rifle season is looking to be another good one as far as the deer herd goes .

If the weather cooperates , it’ll be a great fall rifle season for my hunting guests .

Enjoy your evening and be safe all .

Hey all , hope everyone's week is going well . It’s almost over and the weekend is upon us .

I have been making a lot of last minute changes in my hunting schedule and travel plans . The Washington mule deer hunt is off for now . Between schedule conflicts and time constraints on travel , it is almost impossible at this point . I am planning on heading to Oklahoma for opening weekend of antelope archery . While I'm in the area I will be doing some hog hunting .

I'm sure everybody is getting geared up for there opening season . For those that haven't got into the woods yet , it wont be long . the first of October is just around the corner . Fall brings more than just Halloween to us .

‘Good Luck’ everybody in the woods , and have a good weekend .

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Afternoon all ,

I hope everybody is having good luck in the woods and with any other outdoor activities you may be partaking in .

I have to let you all know , I am not happy about it nor proud , I did the unthinkable and left a wounded animal in the woods yesterday . I stuck a doe yesterday morning and searched for several hours on my own . I reviewed the video to check my shot placement . I was a little back and it looked like a stomach shot . I followed the blood trail for about 100 yards . The trail was phenomenal , I couldn’t believe she didn’t expire sooner . After no luck in locating her , I flagged last blood and returned home . I picked up a friend and he returned with me for several more hours of searching yesterday afternoon . We walked circles , we tried to grid out the area , nothing . I thought a fresh set of eyes might help me locate the blood trail or find her . We just couldn’t find anymore sign .

I'm not proud of it , and surely don’t like leaving a wounded animal . By reviewing the video and the amount of blood she had lost , there is no doubt in my mind that she expired . I just couldn’t locate her .

I have to feel confident in the fact that I tried to locate her and even summoned help in the venture .

I have put off my mule deer hunt in Washington until a further date . I am still however making the plans and arrangements for my archery antelope hunt in Oklahoma starting on October the first . Ill keep you all posted on the details of both hunts as time passes .

I am also looking into doing some hog hunting in Oklahoma with both rifle and bow . It should be a lot of fun with friends and provide some good video for future shows .

Enjoy your week all , make the best of it …

Good morning all , I hope your having a wonderful weekend . I wish the best to those that took to the woods .

Today is day two of the local Walmart event with Mossy Oak and Dodge . Id like to say ‘Thank You’ to Central Dodge of Springfield for dedicating there time and bringing down a couple new Dodge Rams and the Charger for all to look at .

I'm hoping the weather takes a turn for the better here . We had rain and storms yesterday , with more expected today off / on . Tomorrow should prove to be a little drier with warmer temps .

I should find my way back to my favorite tree in the morning tomorrow . A lot of folks have been taking to the woods lately as fall archery season on deer is opening all across the country .

Enjoy folks , make the best of it …

Saturday, September 17, 2011

I hope everybody is having a wonderful weekend . I am busy working an event for Walmart , Mossy Oak and Dodge in Springfield . I'm not too upset by it considering the weather is terrible and I am sure I would be miserable in the woods . We are having heavy rains , wind and cooler than normal temps . Ill be glad though when Monday gets here and I get a chance to return to my favorite tree . I wish the best of luck to everyone giving it there all this weekend in the deer woods .

NEW CONTEST …

Ok all , Here is a new contest . We fell short on the 78 New Fan Club Members needed for the last giveaway . Close , but not close enough … lol .

To add some incentive , I was giving away a 2 day hog hunt when I reached the 100 member mark in the Spur Chaser Fan Club . Instead of the 2 day hog hunt , I am going to make it a 3 day Antelope Hunt , in Oklahoma , with me , the first week of October. That means we have 14 days to make the mark , all I want to see is a total of 100 members in the Fan Club , were close . All members are eligible to win .

If you haven't already , get to the website and join the Fan Club . Tell your friends , family and hunting buddies .

I know I'm going , are you going too ????

Good morning and Happy Friday all ,

I just got back in from the woods . Haven't been real successful these first two days . I did see 7 deer total yesterday morning , passed on a 4 point and a spike as well as a couple does . Yesterday afternoon I got rained out early and didn’t see anything . This morning wasn’t much better , I kicked up a doe on my way in to my stand . Later on in the morning all I had come in within range was a doe . Got some pretty good footage of her inside of 5 yards from the bottom of my tree . After that , the rain returned again .

I have to work a couple events over the weekend with Walmart for Mossy Oak and Dodge . I'm not sure if Ill get a chance to get back out over the weekend or have to wait until Monday .

I did pull the camera down as I was leaving today .

MDGC0011

In this pic , these birds are inside of 10 yards from my stand . Too bad they were a day early for season opener . Our fall archery turkey season runs in conjunction with our deer season opener . Ill be keeping an eye open for them , I just so happen to have a couple tags , lol .

Have a good weekend folks and Ill keep you all posted as to how my season is coming along .

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

The ball has begun to drop folks on opening day of archery season …

Tomorrow I will be in the woods doin’ what I do . Hang’n out of a tree with my bow in hand , … in search of Mr. Big Tine .

The weather here has turned in favor of the hunter . We should have a 50-60 degree temperature swing between yesterday afternoon and tomorrow morning . We have had rain move in today that is going to last through this evening and a little over night . The weather man is calling for mostly cloudy skies in the morning , low in the mid 40’s with highs only reaching the low 60’s .

Wish me luck , as I hope the best for everyone else hitting the woods for the first time , or those that have been hard after it already for awhile .

Don’t forget to check out the new website , online store , and Fan Club at www.spurchaser.com .

My bio page is still holding in the top 5% , http://about.me/spurchaser , ‘Thank you’ to all that have voted and continue to . Be sure to head over and hit the ‘Vote’ button .

I should be posting pic’s over the next few days , hopefully , of a deer or two .

Good afternoon ,

I hope everybody had a wonderful weekend and your looking forward to the new week. I sure am , Thursday is opening day for archery season here in the Ozarks. We have the full moon tonight , and the weather has warmed up a bit . Not to worry though , the weather man is calling for a cold front to push into the area starting Wednesday . Bringing with it some rain . We have a good chance of rain Wednesday evening through Friday .

I finished getting my property ready this morning . I made my final set with my climber , and a back up set with my blind in case it is raining pretty good .

MDGC0040

Here is a recent pic of one of the younger bucks hanging around the property . Ill have to pass on him this year if we cross paths . I thought he had pretty decent body size and shows potential for the years to come .

Have a good week everybody , and ‘Thank you’ again for all the support I have been getting in the votes for my bio page , http://about.me/spurchaser .

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Thursday, September 8, 2011

Good morning all ,

I hope your week is going well. I have been busy with travel/hunt plans for the upcoming season. I had to rearrange my schedule a bit from my return trip off my mule deer hunt in Washington state. I pushed up my Oklahoma antelope hunt by a week so I can pass through the panhandle on my return and try to stick me a speed goat with my bow.

I am getting excited for our season opener here the 15th , 6 and a wake up. The weather has cooled off tremendously compared to a week ago. We do have a slight chance of rain one or two days between now and season opener.

I have even seen a weather model that shows storms/rain the day/night before opening day tapering off on the 15th. That would be ideal.

The temps should stay in the low to mid 80’s during the day and falling to the low 50’s at night.

Let me remind everybody, it has been several months since climbing up/down in that tree stand seemed like work. Don’t be in a hurry with the new season and forget your basic safety rules. Take your time up / down your stand , never try to carry your weapon while climbing (use a gear rope to raise / lower items) , and always , ALWAYS .. use a safety system.

We have 6 days left folks in the most active Fan Club contest , don’t forget to join the Fan Club now for your chance at either a Primos ground blind or a Bass Pro gift card.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Hey folks , how is everyone doin’ today??

I hope everybody had a great enjoyable and safe weekend/holiday.

I've been working on doin some practicing here at the house with the stick/string gett’n ready for open’n day.

‘Congrat’s’ to Jeff Gordon for winning todays NASCAR race in Atlanta. I personally would have rather seen Tony Stewart or Ryan Newman win, but hey, it was a good race. Especially the last few laps. Kudos go to Jimmy Johnson on his dirt track’n style the last few laps.

Ok folks , were 1/3rd of the way through the ‘12 Days Till Hunt’n Season’ contest. Were fallin short on the 78 new members needed in the Fan Club by September 15th (opening day of archery) , in order for me to give away a Brand New Primos Ground Blind or a $200 Bass Pro Gift Card(winners choice). Don’t hesitate , get over to the website ( www.spurchaser.com ) and join the Fan Club now.

Also , only a few days left in the marketing contest. If you have the time, please head over to http://about.me/spurchaser and vote for my page. All you have to do is open the link , hit the ‘Vote’ button on the top right of the page. That’s it , your done. ‘Thank you’ in advance for your efforts’

Monday, September 5, 2011

Good afternoon all and ‘Happy Labor Day’ ,

I hope you all are enjoying the holiday weekend.

I spent the morning on the property checking trail cams and doing some last minute scouting before our archery season starts the 15th. I was thinking of hanging another climber, but decided against it. I want it to be mobile for weather changes. I did see a lot of fresh sign.

I also had a meeting with a Walmart Store Manager today as well . I have been busy making arrangements and plans for the upcoming ‘Bone Collector Hunting event’ . It is a national marketing push for Walmart across the country. With over 1300 events in a 9 week span. It is a big collaboration between Mossy Oak , Real Tree , Dodge , and of course Walmart.

I will be working 3 of the events in Springfield , Missouri at different stores and dates , as well as my local store here in Ozark , Missouri.

Ok people , don’t forget about the ongoing contest for the Fan Club. Be sure to head over to the website and join today for your chance at either a New Primos Ground Blind or a $200 Bass Pro Gift Card (winners choice).
