Afternoon all , I hope you are enjoying it . I have been busy since day break chasing ‘Thunder Chickens’ in Oklahoma . We have seen a lot of birds all day long . We had to abandon our blinds this morning after the birds flew down . The wind has been strong here and we couldn’t here the birds , nor could they here us . They have stayed held up in the cover of the woods for the most part all day . I did make a bad shot right after day break on a good gobbler . I could here him in the woods rustling around as I approached . By the time I got on him again to finish him , I got beat by two coyotes . I took this one as the second ran off with the bird . My buddy Les took the second dog as he exited the woods . All we could find of the bird was feathers and scattered carcass parts . okcoyote

As the day continued we abandoned our bows and went to the scatter guns . We did a lot of runnin’ –n- gunnin’ trying to stay ahead of the birds for an ambush . Finally around lunch , our set up worked . I caught this tom as he crossed out of the woods and pitched down across a shallow ravine . He goes 8” on the beard with 1” spurs . firstokbird

Were takin a short break and heading back out this afternoon . The wind is predicted to lay down this evening . Hopefully I can get back in the blind and on my stick/string . It will also allow me to get some good video footage .

I wish all the best to everyone taking to the woods ….
